As I write this at this late hour I am thankful for the blessed day I had. Today I had the opportunity to sit down and have a nice long chat with Dr. Ronald J. Sider about Poverty, the church, and what you and I can do to help. Dr. Sider is the author of the famous and influential book, Rich Christians in an Age Of Hunger.
As we met at The Meeting House, where Dr. Sider was speaking for the day to a group of BiC pastors, I also had a chance to have a short interview with Bruxy Cavey, the teaching pastor at The Meeting House, and the author of The End of Religion.
The interviews were fantastic, and it was an honour to spend some time with these men whom God has given the incredible gift of articulating Biblical truths and ideas. I am excited that their voices will be part of Pov.ology, and look forward to the rest of the interviews!
As of right now (November 12, 2015) I have interviews scheduled over the coming months with some folks at Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a professor from Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg, someone from Inner City Youth Alive (also Winnipeg), Ward Parkinson, the Conference Pastor for the Evangelical Mennonite Conference, and Shane Claiborne, author of Irresistible Revolution. I hope and pray that all these interviews will in fact take place in the next few months, and that through all the interviews we can have a rich, meaningful, and thought provoking dialogue that will help each of us figure out how to better help the poor in Jesus’ name in our given context.
